how is FTF impacting young people with better access to the arts?
It is a scientific fact that participation in and exposure to the performing arts has a lasting positive impact on the academic, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. We want ALL children and students to have equal access to these amazing benefits- without any barriers. That's why FTF not only produces professional theatrical events, but we also strive to...
HELP deserving performers
There are children with big talent and bold dreams all over Middle Tennessee, but not all of them have the same resources to afford the kinds of training that help them get ahead, or moments that make those dreams a reality. FTF helps, with Arts Access Scholarships for local youth and teens to attend illustrious programs nationwide- programs that foster their talent and drive their future goals.
HOST affordable programs
FTF hosts affordable workshops and masterclasses for youth in a variety of locations around Middle Tennessee. We sponsor students to attend our shows through free tickets to neighborhood programs for underserved teens- giving many their first ever exposure to professional performances. We paid for headshots for theatre students across Metro Nashville through our partnership with the TPAC Spotlight Awards program. If we want the Arts to thrive long into the future... we must inspire the next generation.
Hire young professionals
From our very first production, FTF has been committed to the "Young Artist Fellowship," hiring local college-age students with an aim toward careers in Theatre Arts to work as sponsored Fellows. Learning on the job in a healthy and nurturing environment, alongside seasoned theatre professionals is a vital step in a young career. We hope to provide a thriving, paid training ground for the future of theatre in the South.
Giving Kids a chance to shine
FTF knows that the true value of the arts in a child's life can't be measured with money. But some children - even here in our area- cannot afford or get access to these opportunities. FTF is actively working to sponsor deserving children from right here in Middle Tennessee who have all of the drive, talent, and love for the theatre - but might need additional resources in order to attend special programs. We know a child's light truly shines brightest when they do what they love and nothing is holding them back. That's why our 2024 Arts Access Scholarship was awarded to 10 year old Ileigh Austin!
